About the New Zealand Chapter
Established in 2001, the New Zealand Chapter of BSAPAC was inaugurated by Poojya Shri Mallikarjun Devru of Sarpabhooshan Math, Bengaluru, alongside other senior leaders from Sydney during the Basava Jayanthi celebrations. The chapter was officially registered as an Incorporated Society with the Companies Office of the New Zealand Government in 2002.
The New Zealand Chapter is proud to host the First Asia Pacific Basava Convention and the official inauguration of the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd in Auckland, New Zealand, on 8th and 9th April 2023.
In 2015, during the Basava Jayanthi celebrations, the New Zealand Chapter released the first production of Vachanas, titled “JagajyOti,” composed by the late Smt Ratna Vaamanamurthy. This collection, addressed by Poojya Shri Prabhu Channabasava Swamiji from Motagi Math, Atnah, showcases a variety of vachanas on a compact disc.
Key Events and Activities

Outdoor Events: Regular outdoor activities are organised to promote camaraderie and wellness among members, encouraging participation in nature and recreational settings.
Annual Basava Jayanthi Celebrations: This important event draws community members together to commemorate the teachings of Guru Basava and celebrate his contributions to society.
In addition, exclusive audio files have been developed to systematically conduct the Sahaja Shivayoga programme, introduced and trained by Poojya Shri Dr Shivamurthy Murugharajendra, MurughAmath, Chitradurga. The foundation of Sharana philosophy in New Zealand was solidified by Dr Shivamurthy Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji (Murugha Sharanaru) in April 2002.
In 2021, the Basava Samiti of Australasia New Zealand Chapter Inc officially joined under the BSAPAC umbrella, now recognised as the Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific (New Zealand Chapter) Inc. These individuals misappropriated funds intended solely for charitable activities without proper authorisation. Upon discovering these irregularities, we took immediate action, suspending operations with the New Zealand Chapter and promptly reporting the matter to relevant authorities to facilitate a thorough investigation.
