Roadmap: Implementing Basava Philosophy
In a groundbreaking effort to bring structure to Guru Basava’s teachings, we have developed a roadmap that applies Enterprise Architecture methodology to philosophy. As Basava’s principles, established in the 12th century, spread among the masses, they were preserved in folklore for centuries. This resulted in inconsistencies and a lack of standardisation in how the philosophy was communicated and understood.
Different groups and guilds around the world attempted to promote the essence of Basava’s teachings, yet these efforts often lacked a cohesive and appealing approach. Recognising the need for a governing body to oversee the philosophy’s global standardisation and guide its modern application, the Basava Samiti Asia Pacific was established.
This roadmap, developed by Mrs. Girija Karekal and presented at the International Seminar on Rationalisation of Vachana Literature, Society and Culture at the Central University of Karnataka, outlines the necessary steps to transition Basava’s teachings from folklore to structured philosophy. It provides a blueprint for how the philosophy can be standardised and administered globally, ensuring its message of equality, morality, and social justice resonates with a broader audience.
