The festival is part of the broader Adelaide Festival, creating a lively atmosphere that embraces storytelling and the exchange of ideas across genres.
Followers of Guru Basava hold literature and poetry in high regard, viewing them as essential means of expressing spiritual beliefs and cultural identity. Basava’s own teachings and vachanas emphasize devotion, equality, and the pursuit of knowledge, which have inspired generations of poets and writers within the community. Literature and poetry are often seen as powerful tools for conveying philosophical concepts and moral values, promoting social justice and personal introspection. Overall, there is a strong appreciation for literary expressions that align with Basava’s ethical principles.
