About the Cairns Chapter
The Cairns Chapter of Basava Samiti of Asia Pacific Ltd (BSAPAC) has been an unincorporated member of BSAPAC since August 2021. This chapter holds special significance as it was the first to be established under the operational guidance of BSAPAC, making Queensland the first state in Australia to host two BSAPAC chapters, alongside Perth. The formation of this chapter marked the birth of a new spiritual and social movement in Northern Queensland, nearly 12 years after the Perth Chapter’s establishment.
The founding president, Mr. Rajashekar Muddappa, and his family spent significant time contributing to the Basava Samiti of Australasia (New Zealand Chapter) Inc. before bringing their passion for Guru Basava’s teachings to Australia. In 2021, BSAPAC formalised their vision, leading to the creation of the Cairns Chapter. Since its inception, the Cairns Chapter has been dedicated to promoting Guru Basava’s philosophies and values in the local community, despite its more remote location.
Activities and Events
The Cairns Chapter organises several periodic events aimed at fostering a sense of community and spreading Basava’s teachings, including:
Mahama Mane
The Annual Basava Jayanthi
