Founding and Growth

The Perth Chapter of Basava Samiti Asia Pacific (BSAPAC) was founded in 2009 as the “Basava Samithi of Australasia – Perth Chapter” (BSOA) by a group of dedicated individuals including Dr. Karibasappa S, Mr. Ashok Patil, Mr. Siddeshwarappa Siddappa, Mr. Girish Asundi, Mr. Arun Kumar JL, and Mr. Ashok Karajagi. Their shared mission was to promote the Basava Philosophy, education, and social services through active volunteering .
In 2022, the BSOA merged with BSAPAC, marking a significant growth milestone. Today, the chapter has nearly 100 members in Western Australia, making it one of the largest and most impactful branches in the region.

Technology and Leadership Contributions

The Perth Chapter stands as the technology centre of BSAPAC, having set up a hi-tech Microsoft platform with built-in redundancy. This technological infrastructure ensures seamless charity operations and allows for innovative online programs. Perth’s members frequently step up to fill key leadership roles, including acting as directors on the BSAPAC board, showcasing their commitment and expertise in driving the charity forward.

Cultural and Philosophical Programs

One of the chapter’s most notable initiatives is the Mahamane Program, which is held every second week of the month. These gatherings foster insightful discussions on the Vachanas (teachings of Basava), deepening the philosophical understanding of all attendees. The Perth Chapter’s enthusiasm for promoting Basava’s Philosophy is evident in their dedication to these educational and community-driven activities.

Hosting Major Conventions and Events

The Perth Chapter made its mark on the global stage by hosting the Sixth International Sharana Convention in 2014. As the youngest chapter to host such a prestigious event, they drew a wide range of delegates from India and the Asia Pacific.
Building on that success, the Perth Chapter is now preparing to host the 2nd Asia Pacific Basava Convention on May 3-4, 2025. This two-day event will feature engaging panel discussions, cultural performances, and recognitions. The chapter extends a warm invitation to international and interstate delegates to participate in this momentous occasion. Beyond the event, attendees can explore the best of Perth’s stunning attractions, including Cottesloe Beach, Kings Park, and Fremantle.
